Description

Soudley Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and features painted brick nogging on a painted tooled dressed sandstone plinth, topped with a slate roof. The framing consists of small square panels, with four panels extending from the sole plate to the wall plate, and short straight corner braces. The first floor juts out over the ground floor at the front, supported by hewn brackets and a moulded bressumer. Inside, exposed tie beam trusses with raking struts can be seen. The building has a T-plan layout, with a hall range comprising two framed bays and a projecting gabled cross wing to the right, also with two framed bays, both standing two storeys high. There is a brick ridge stack located off-centre to the left and an external brick end stack at the rear of the cross wing. The windows are arranged in a 2:1 pattern, featuring 19th-century three-light wooden casements. A 20th-century nail-studded boarded door is located between the first and second windows from the left. The roof pitch was likely altered in the 19th century. The interior has not been inspected.
