CHESWARDINE C.P. - SJ 7303 2792 - 8/1 - Soudley Park Farmhouse 16/4/86 II

Farmhouse. Mid-C17 with mid-C19 alternations. Timber framed with painted brick nogging on painted tooled dressed sandstone plinth; slate roof. Framing: small square panels (4 from sole plate to wall plate) with short straight corner braces. Continuously-jettied first floor to front with hewn brackets and moulded bressumer. Exposed tie beam trusses with raking struts. T-plan. Hall range of 2 framed bays with projecting gabled cross wing of 2 framed bays to right 2 storeys. Brick ridge stack off-centre to left and external brick end stack at rear of cross wing. 2:1 windows; C19 three-light wooden casements, C20 nail-studded boarded door between first and second windows from left. Interior not inspected. The roof pitch was probably altered in the C19.
