Description
This is a barn located south-east of the farmhouse at Church Farm, dating from the early to mid-17th century. It features English irregular bond brickwork and a tiled roof. The barn has twelve bays, with cartways located in bays 4 and 9. The walls have offsets above the sill and include buttresses that define the bays; some are square, while others to the south are triangular with square pilaster tops that are weathered in tiles. There are ventilation slots, some of which have been replaced with 9-paned hopper windows. The roof is hipped. Inside, the barn has tie beam trusses with raking struts supporting the lower butt purlins and collars for the upper purlins. The ventilation slots have triangular inner arches. This barn is a significant example from its period.
