Description
The Red Lion Public House is an inn that dates from the late 17th century, with a front block added in the late 18th to early 19th century. The building is constructed of brick, with the rear block featuring tiled roofing and the front block having a slated roof. The earlier section is two stories tall with an attic, comprising three bays and a central stair hall, along with a narrow passage lean-to at the rear that extends under the roof. The front block is also two stories, featuring four window bays and an entrance located in the second bay, which includes a high six-panelled door with glazed upper panels and a porch supported by columns. The ground floor has sixteen-paned sash windows with gauged brick lintels, while the window above the door has twelve panes. The roof is hipped, and there are two dormers on the rear block. The building is situated partly in Hampshire within the parish of West Tytherley, in the district of Test Valley.
