Description

No. 5 is a cottage that was originally part of a pair, dating from the 17th century, with extensions from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It has a timber-frame core that is encased in render and tile hanging, with some brick additions that are partially colourwashed. The roof is covered with plain tiles.

The front of the cottage is two stories high and has four bays, with an outshot to the right and two older bays in the center. There is a planked door with a segmental head located in a gabled hood supported by posts in the right bay, and a similar door under a flat hood in the left bay. Each bay features two-light casements, with narrower similar windows on the first floor. The roof is half-hipped and has large stacks above the right door and at the right end, with a 20th-century stack at the left end.
