Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse built between 1650 and 1700. It features English bond brickwork, which has been painted on the east front, and has a tiled roof. The building is two storeys high with attics and consists of five bays. It has been extended to the south by a bay that originally served as a carriageway but is now used as a sitting room.
There are entrances located in an open timber-framed porch at the south end leading to a stair hall, and a second entrance at the north end. Both fronts of the farmhouse have brick buttresses that define the bays and a plat band. The three northern bays have paned casement windows, while the southern bays have been replaced with 12 and 9-paned sash windows. There are three flat-roofed dormers, and stacks are located on the left gable and at bay 4.
Bays 4 and 5 were extended to the rear around 1930, featuring a two-storey window bay with gauged brick lintels above the openings. The original carriageway has been blocked and converted for domestic use, and the interior was refitted around 1840. The windows have panelled shutters in the reveals.
