Description
Shell Brook Farm is a house dating from the mid-17th century, which was remodeled in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill and a plain tiled roof. The structure consists of three framed bays aligned east to west, with an external 20th-century chimney at the east gable end. The house is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers.
The framing includes three rows of panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces in the upper corners. At the west gable end, there is a collar and tie-beam truss supported by two struts.
On the north front elevation, all windows are 20th-century casements. The ground floor has two two-light windows, and there are attic lights in the gable ends. The main entrance is located in a 20th-century timber-framed addition, which is also a single storey with an attic, positioned to the left of the front elevation.
Inside, the main beams are stop-chamfered. The house was once part of the Bearcroft Estate.
