Description
Beehive Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with a restoration in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, topped by a thatched roof. The building is laid out in an L-shape, with wings extending to the west and south, and an external stack on the south gable.
The west front includes a gabled wing on the left with a half-hipped roof. This wing is one storey high with an attic, which is illuminated by a gable window in the cross-wing and an eyebrow dormer in the other range. The ground floor of the cross-wing is blind, and the entrance is located in the angle, accessed through a glazed 20th-century porch with a tiled roof. To the right of the entrance is a 2-light 19th-century casement window.
The framing of the cottage consists of two rectangular panels high in the cross-wing and three square panels high with straight tension braces in the main range.
