Description
Croft Mead is a house dating from the 17th century that was restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with rendered infill and a tiled roof, designed in an L-shape with wings extending to the north and east, the latter being slightly recessed. The main stack is located laterally on the north wall of the east wing and has a brick chimney, while another later brick stack is positioned laterally on the west wall of the other wing.
The south front showcases a gabled cross-wing on the left, which is two stories high and includes a two-story canted bay window. To the right, there is a one-story range with an attic that is illuminated by two gabled dormers. The ground floor features a three-light casement window on the right and an entrance on the left, which has a plain wooden architrave, a flat canopy, and a half-glazed door.
The framing consists of four square panels high with straight angle braces, and the south gable is supported by three struts to the collar, with V-struts in the apex. Inside, the property has exposed chamfered and stopped ceiling beams. The entrance hall and the south room of the cross-wing contain some re-set 17th-century panelling.
