Description
Croase House and Little Croase is a house, now divided into two homes, dating from the early 18th century. It was raised and extended in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a hipped slate roof. It has an L-plan layout, with sections extending to the north and east.
The south front is two storeys high, raised to three storeys on the right side during the 19th century, and has a band at the ground floor. There are seven windows arranged from left to right: a 2-light casement, a blind window, another 2-light casement, a recessed boxed glazing bar sash, another blind window, and at the right end, a two-storey canted bay window with a hipped lead roof and a 2-light casement on the front. The second storey of the bay window features boarded eaves and two glazing bar sashes.
On the ground floor, there is a late 20th-century single-storey extension on the left and a small single-storey service range on the right. The five windows in this section include a 4-light casement under a narrower rubbed brick head, a blind window, a 2-light casement, a tripartite sash under a segmental head, and another blind window. The entrance to the building is located to the right of the last window and features a wooden doorcase with fluted pilasters, consoles supporting a broken pediment above a semi-elliptical fanlight, and a six-panel door.
Inside, the staircase is notable for its turned balusters and moulded rail.
