Description

Stockwood Thatch is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. It is timber-framed with painted brick and rendered infill, and has a thatched and tile roof. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with wings extending to the northwest and southwest, featuring a stack at the junction of the wings and an external stack on the northwest gable. The southwest front has a gabled wing to the right, thatched and of one storey with a gable-lit attic, and another range to the left, also of one storey with an attic lit by three gabled dormers. There are three windows on the right and two on the left; most of the windows are 2-light casements. The entrance is located to the left of the gable of the cross-wing. The original timber framing likely comprised three square panels in height with straight angle braces. The gable truss features two struts to the collar with V-struts in the apex.
