Description
Stonehouse Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse with mid-19th century alterations. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and has a tiled roof. The building has a U- or H-plan layout, with the main range oriented east to west and a lateral stack located on the rear (north) elevation.
The south front features gabled cross-wings, each with stone-coped verges and a chamfered plinth. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a window arrangement of one plus two plus one on each floor. The windows include 2-light casements, 2-light, 3-light, and 2-light configurations, all set in chamfered reveals. The right window has a stone mullion and ovolo moulded drip mouldings above the windows of the cross-wings. There are also blind single-light windows in the attics of the cross-wings.
On the ground floor, the window arrangement mirrors that of the first floor, and there is an entrance to the left of centre with a chamfered surround and a 20th-century ledged door. Another entrance is located to the right of the right cross-wing, accessed through a glazed porch.
