House, now club. c1860. Reddish-brown brick with flat arches of gauged red brick, stone sills and slate roof with tall right side brick stack, banded and with pots; cast-iron grills. 3 storeys with attic, 3 first-floor windows. First floor has central canted oriel window with 1/1 horned sashes between tall 8/8 sashes; blind boxes. Second floor has 8/8 sashes. Ground floor has two 8/8 sashes. All sashes in plain reveals, quoins and sills and flat arches of gauged brick. Wide eaves on brackets. Entrance at left has 4-panel door, upper panels glazed and with ornate grills, lower panels are flush with roll-moulding; overlight with glazing bars in palin reveals and with flat arch and quoins. Gabled roof dormer has casement window. INTERIOR: noted as retaining dogleg staircase to left side with stick balusters and run-out handrail and carved tread ends. Original joinery and plasterwork includes panelled shutters to some windows; plasterwork includes moulded cornice and ceiling rose to first floor. Occupies an important site, forming part of the setting for the Cathedral Church of Christ and St Mary (qv). All the listed buildings in College Precincts form a good group with the Cathedral.
