House, now guest house. c1760 with later alterations. Reddish-brown brick in Flemish bond with flat arches of red gauged brick and artificial stone keystones, stone sills and cornice; plain tile roof and renewed left side stack and 2 rear stacks, 2 with pots and all banded; cast-iron grill. Double-depth plan with central hallway. 3 storeys with half-basement to right, 2+4 first-floor windows. All 6/6 flush sashes except to ground floor, off-centre right a tripartite 6/6 between 2/2 sashes, all with flat arches and fluted keystones with cornices except keystones to second floor are plain. Half-basement to right has 2 openings, one blocked, ne with grill; flat arches; continuous roll-moulded ground-floor band at right. Crowning cornice with ovolo-step-ovolo-step-cavetto moulding; blocking course. Off-centre left entrance, 2 renewed steps to 5-panel door, the lower wide flush panel has reeded surround otherwise depressed panels with disc moulding, plain reveals in doorcase with palm-leaf caps, frieze with oval motif, fanlight has decorative radial glazing bars; open pediment. INTERIOR: noted as retaining openwell staircase with ornate cast-iron balsuters and wreathed handrail; original plasterwork and joinery includes panelled shutters to some windows. Occupies an important site, forming part of the setting for the Cathedral Church of Christ and St Mary (qv). All the listed buildings in College Precincts form a good group with the Cathedral.
