Description
Nos. 5 and 6 College Precincts is a house that has been divided into two residences, built around 1820. The right part was likely refronted between 1836 and 1899. The building features pinkish-brown and red brick in Flemish bond, with ashlar sills and copings, and has a concealed roof. It stands three storeys high on a half-basement, with first floor windows arranged in a 1:1 pattern. The ground and first floors have 8/8 sash windows, while the second floor has 6/6 sash windows, all set in near-flush frames with flat arches made of gauged brick and sills. The building has a coped parapet, and the half-basement includes a grille on the left side. The outer entrances consist of six raised-and-fielded-panel doors, with the upper panels glazed, framed by tooled surrounds, a frieze, and a cornice.
Inside, the right part of the building contains a chamfered axial beam and a fireplace with a chamfered bressumer in the front room. The rest of the interior was not inspected. This building is part of a significant group of listed buildings in College Precincts, contributing to the setting of Worcester Cathedral.
