Description
16 and 18 Bath Road are a pair of houses, now converted into flats, built around 1800 with later additions and alterations, including conversions around 1980 that added attic dormers and rear extensions. The buildings are constructed from reddish-brown brick in Flemish bond and feature a slate roof, along with cast-iron boot scrapers. They stand two storeys high on half-basements, with attics and a total of ten first-floor windows. The windows are 6/6 sashes set in near-flush frames, topped with cambered flat arches, except for the basement which has four blocked openings under elliptical arches. There is a modillion eaves band, and the attic includes six box dormers with casement windows. The entrances are located below the third and eighth windows, accessed by flights of renewed steps leading to renewed six-panel doors framed by renewed architraves. Boot scrapers are positioned on either side of the steps, with two on the left and one on the right. The left return features three 6/6 sashes. The interiors have not been inspected. The buildings, along with Nos 6, 10, 16, and 18 Bath Road and Nos 11-23 (odd) Bath Road, form a group with Nos 117 and 119 Sidbury.
