Description

The three terraced houses at 11, 13, and 15 Bath Road date from the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations, including a 20th-century extension to the rear of the left-hand house. They are constructed of reddish-brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with ashlar eaves bands and sills. The roof is slate-covered, with brick stacks rising from the right end and party walls, featuring oversailing courses and decorative pots. Each house has three storeys over basements, with a regular pattern of 2:2:2 windows on the first floor. The first-floor windows are 6/6 sashes, the second floor windows are 3/3 sashes, and the ground-floor windows are mostly 8/8 sashes, with two 6/6 sashes. All windows are set in plain reveals with flat arches of gauged brick and sills. An eaves band and a low, coped parapet are also present. Entrances are located on the left, centre, and right, each with a flight of steps; the right-hand steps have roll-edged details. Numbers 13 and 15 retain their original five-panel doors, with the lower two panels flush-beaded and the upper panels raised and fielded, all topped with fanlights – two of the fanlights have petal glazing bars. The outer doorcases feature engaged, fluted Doric columns with fluted friezes bearing fleurons and cornices. The basement level has a fixed-light window on the left; other basement windows are concealed and have flat arches. The rear of the properties has original windows with 3/3, 2/2, and 1/1 sashes. The interiors have not been inspected. Numbers 11–23 (odd) form a group of architectural and historic significance with numbers 6, 10, 16 and 18 Bath Road and numbers 117 and 119 Sidbury.
