Description

Haresfield House is a house, later converted into a surgery and flats, dated 1740, with subsequent additions and alterations including those from the 1980s to the rear. It is constructed of reddish-brown brick in Flemish bond, with ashlar keystones, sills, a porch, cornice, and copings. The roof is slate-covered. The building is three storeys high and has five windows on the first floor. The ground and first floors have 6/6 sash windows; the second floor has 3/3 sash windows. All windows are set in near-flush frames with sills, and feature cambered arches with fluted keystones. The central first-floor window has an acanthus-decorated keystone, a moulded sill, and an apron displaying the date. A central entrance features two roll-edged steps leading to a 5-panel door. The lower panels of the door are flush and beaded; the upper panels are raised and fielded, with a fanlight decorated with a petal motif. The doorcase is composed of three-quarter engaged Doric columns with a frieze and cornice. The building is topped with a renewed frieze and moulded cornice, and a low coped parapet. The interior retains original panelling and joinery, including panelled shutters and moulded cornices. The building received a City of Worcester Award in 1989. It forms a group with Nos. 6, 10, 16, 18, and Nos. 11-23 (odd) Bath Road, along with Nos. 117 and 119 Sidbury.
