Description
Nos. 1 and 2 Green Hill Bath Road are a pair of semi-detached houses built around the 1840s, with some later additions and alterations. They are constructed of red brick with painted stone sills, topped by a slate roof and featuring brick end stacks. The houses have a double-depth plan with adjoining entrances and a symmetrical elevation. They stand two storeys high with an attic over a semi-basement, showcasing a two-window range with eight-over-eight pane sash windows set in plain reveals. The ground floor windows are paired under flat gauged brick arches. The entrances are adorned with fluted pilasters and Tuscan-style canopies supported by fluted cast-iron columns. The left entrance (No. 2) has a late 20th-century replacement door, while the right entrance (No. 1) retains its original five-panel door. No. 1 also features a late 20th-century rooflight. The rear elevation still has some eight-over-eight sash windows. Although the interiors were not inspected, they are known to retain original plasterwork and joinery. This pair of early 19th-century semi-detached houses, with their classical porches, is part of a group in the late Georgian style that includes Nos. 3-6.
