Description
Nos. 27 and 29 are a pair of detached houses, built around the 1850s. They have a stuccoed exterior and a slate roof that is hipped at the right end and gabled at the left end, with No. 27 having a tarred section on the right. The houses feature stacks with brick and rendered shafts that have platbands. The layout is a double-depth plan with a central entrance and services located in the basement.
The buildings are two storeys high with a basement and originally had a symmetrical two-bay front. The central entrance has a recessed six-panel front door topped with a reeded lintel. There are three first-floor and two second-floor windows, with the original embrasures still in place. The windows in the right-hand bay of No. 27 have original 12-pane sashes, while the windows in No. 29 have unfortunately been replaced with plastic. No. 27 also features a single-storey set-back porch at the right end with a modern front door. The rear elevation includes a central gabled projection with a decorative balcony, though it also has an unfortunate plastic window.
The interior has not been inspected but may still contain interesting features. Additionally, there are railings around the basement areas, which have ogee finials.
