Description
This is a house located at 1 Meadfoot Lane in Torquay, built around the 1840s. The building is currently disused and boarded up. It has a plastered exterior and a slate roof, with stacks that have rendered shafts and platbands. The house has an overall L-shaped plan, featuring a rectangular main block and a cross wing to the right.
The exterior is two storeys high with a three-bay front and deep eaves supported by brackets. The central front door, which dates from the 20th century, has an opening above that was previously described as a "marginal glazed casement." To the right on the ground floor, there is a 12-pane horned sash window, while the other windows are boarded up. These were noted as "glazing bar sashes" in a 1975 listing. On the first floor, the right window was originally a bowed French window that opened onto a balcony, which is still present and features a decorative cast-iron balustrade. The interior has not been inspected.
