Description
A terrace of three houses located at 3, 4, and 5 Green Hill Bath Road, dating from the 1840s and subject to later alterations. The exterior is painted roughcast over brick with stone sills and slate roofs. End and party wall stacks are visible at the front and rear of the roof slopes; the stack to the left retains an oversailing detail and decorative pots. The houses have a double-depth plan and are arranged over two storeys plus an attic, with a semi-basement level. The front of the terrace features a three-window facade with six/six pane sash windows in plain reveals. The ground floor windows have sills. All the front doors have three-pane overlights. While the doors to numbers 5 and 4 are 20th century replacements, the door to number 3 has a margin-glazed upper portion, including some coloured glass, and a lower panel with a flush, double-beaded design featuring an elliptical pattern in raised bobbin moulding. A passage provides access between numbers 5 and 4. Late 20th century rooflights have been added to all three houses. The rear elevation is characterised by eight/eight sash windows. Interiors are not inspected, but are known to retain original plaster cornices and joinery. The terrace forms part of a notable group of houses in the late Georgian tradition, including numbers 6, 1, and 2.
