Description

No.6 Green Hill Bath Road is a house dating from the 1840s. It is built with Flemish bond brickwork, has a hipped slate roof, and a brick stack to the rear. The house follows a central stairhall plan and presents a symmetrical three-window facade. The windows are predominantly eight-pane sashes, with four-pane sashes on the second floor. The rusticated lintels are ornamented with projecting keystones, and the central window above the front door is semi-circular arched with a blind tympanum. The front door is a six-panel design, complete with a fanlight, set within panelled reveals featuring rosettes to the flanking pilasters. A Tuscan porch with slim cast-iron columns and a lead roof provides access. A return elevation has similar windows to the upper floors, with gauged flat brick arches, above a canted bay containing a six-pane window flanked by four-pane sashes. The interior, though not inspected, is reported to retain original plasterwork, joinery, and a staircase. No.6 Green Hill Bath Road is a complete example of a Late Georgian house and the westernmost property in a contemporary terrace of houses, comprising Nos. 1-5 Green Hill.
