Description

14 and 16 Barbourne Road are two houses, now converted into flats, which are part of a terrace built around 1770 with later additions and alterations. The buildings are constructed of red brick and feature a plain clay tile roof. The end and party-wall stacks on the rear roof slope have oversailing details and a string course made of blue and yellow bricks, with pots. The box dormers have lead roofs and sides. Window openings have painted stone sills and keystones, and there is a simple rendered plinth at the base.

The houses have a double-depth plan with a central entrance and hallway, presenting a symmetrical facade. They are two storeys high, with cellars and attics, and feature five first-floor windows. The eaves are dentilled, and all sash windows are horned 1/1 with flush, exposed boxes. The windows have flat gauged brick arches with projecting capped, moulded keystones, and the sills have a projecting moulded top face. There are three full-dormers with horned 2/2 sashes.

The plain doorcase includes fluted console brackets and an open pediment. The left house has an 8-panel door that is raised and fielded, while the right house has a 6-panel door; both doors are topped with radial pattern fanlights. The design is similar to No. 12 Barbourne Road. The interior has not been inspected.
