Description
Albany Lodge is a house built in the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of red brick and has a plain clay tile roof, featuring parapets at both the front and rear. The right gable-end has a stack with oversailing detail and pots. The entrance is accessed via slate steps flanked by stucco walls, leading to a timber doorcase. The building has a single-depth plan with a central hallway and staircase, and it is three storeys high with a semi-basement. There are three first-floor windows, with the central window having a lower sill. All windows are 6/6 sashes, some with horns, set in plain reveals with sills. The flat gauged brick arches above the windows are present except for the second floor, which features segmental arches. The entrance consists of nine roll-edged steps leading to a 20th-century part-glazed door with a radial fanlight above. The walls of the steps create plinths for abbreviated fluted pilasters of the open pediment doorcase. There are steps leading down to the semi-basement, which has a 20th-century glazed door and fenestration. Albany Lodge adjoins the rear wing of Paradise House on Brewery Walk. The interior has not been inspected.
