Description
Paradise House is a house, now divided into flats, built around 1820 with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of dark-red brick and features a plain clay tile roof, with parapets at the front, rear, and left side. The building has altered external stacks at each gable end and a timber doorcase. There is an iron balustrade leading to the external rear steps. The layout consists of a single-depth plan with a central hallway and entrance, and an L-shaped design that includes a rear left wing adjoining Albany Lodge. The house has three storeys and a cellar, with three first-floor windows. The sashes have been renewed throughout, featuring 6/6 panes except for the ground floor, which has 8/8 panes. All windows are set in plain reveals with cambered gauged brick arches and sills. The front door features a Tuscan-style doorcase with fluted pilasters, a six-panel door, and an altered overlight. At the rear, there is a flight of 11 rebuilt steps leading to a 20th-century rear door, which has a two-pane overlight with margin glazing. The steps retain the original handrail with stick balusters. The rear windows include 8/8, 8/4, 6/6, and 2/2 sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
