Description

This is a house with an adjoining stable and loft, located approximately 3 meters east of Bartlam House. The house dates from the 17th century, while the adjoining stable and loft were added in the late 18th or early 19th century. The structure is timber-framed with brick infill, a sandstone plinth, and a rear outshut, while the stable and loft are built of brick. The roofs are tiled.

The house features a straight range of two framed bays with the north (rear) outshut aligned east-west, and the stable loft is attached to the east gable. There is an entry to the right of center and in the west gable of the house, as well as a north entry to the stable. An external stack on the west gable has been removed. The house is two stories high and was formerly gable-lit in the attic, with two windows that are 2- and 3-light casements, some of which still have leaded lights. It has ledged doors and framing consisting of four panels from the sill to the wall-plate.

Inside, there are cross-beamed ceilings in the lower and upper chambers of the west bay, and inclined strut trusses in the roof. The adjoining stable is a single storey with an attic and features three 3-light casements with segmental heads. The house was formerly a farmhouse but is no longer used as a dwelling.
