Description

This is a house, likely originating in the 17th century, with significant alterations and additions in the early 19th century. A stable block was added to the front, and the building now forms an L-shaped plan. The construction is of rubble, rendered, with brick detailing, and a pantiled roof featuring ridge and gable stacks. The house may have originally had a through-passage plan, but this was closed by the addition of the stable, which is now used as accommodation. The front elevation, to the right, features a two-panelled door with round-headed panels, pilasters, a painted fanlight, and a pediment. There is a 16-pane sash window above and to the right. A two-storey stable wing is to the left, with a catslide roof extending to the inner side. The gable end of the stable wing has three openings with segmental brick arches at ground floor; two openings have two-light casements, one is blocked. Two two-light casements with segmental brick arches and glazing bars are above, with a boarded gable end. The left side of the stable wing has a carriage entry with a brick segmental head and double doors, plus windows with two-light casements at eaves level, and other casements, one formerly a door, with a two-pane and a four-pane light. The left return gable end of the main range has a two-light casement at first floor, and a single-storey lean-to with a two-light casement. The rear of the house has three windows, two-light casements at first floor, and a sash window and door with a porch and a half-glazed door to the right on the ground floor. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
