Description

The Rectory is a mid-18th century rectory, incorporating an earlier building, with a late 19th century rear wing and later alterations and additions. It is constructed of rendered rubble with double Roman tiled roofs and limestone dressings to the rear wing. The building has an irregular plan formed by piecemeal additions. It is two storeys high, with gable ends to the 2-span roof. A six-panelled door is situated on the right side, with reeded pilasters, a fanlight featuring radial glazing bars and a pediment; a sash window sits above it. To the left is a mid-19th century block, slightly advanced, with two windows to each floor. The ground floor has a 2-light casement, and a 16-pane sash window. The first floor has a sash window and a 16-pane sash in exposed boxes, with a three-pane light at the top and a single light at ground floor level to the right. The right return side has three sashes at both ground and first floor, topped by a parapet and coping. The left return side has a hip roof to the right and a door with a first floor sash in an exposed box. Single-storey garages are attached to the rear left. The rear elevation has a gable end to the left with a sash window at both ground and first floor. A projecting wing at the centre has a large, paired plate-glass sash on the ground floor with a chamfered mullion and transom, a sash window above, and similar plate-glass sashes to the left and right, with an 8-pane sash at the first floor. To the right, the ground floor has a 20th century 2-light casement, a French window, and a small single light, while the first floor has two sash windows. The interior was not inspected.
