Description

The building consists of hop kilns and a malthouse located about 100 yards south of Kyrewood House. It dates from the mid-18th century and the mid- to late 19th century. Constructed from brick, it features partly hipped two-span slate roofs. The main structure is made up of two parallel ranges of roughly five bays that run north to south. At the southern end of the west range, there are three square adjoining kilns, with an additional parallel range at the rear. The building has two levels.

On the main west elevation, the ground floor includes a square window and a central blocked archway with a cambered head. The upper floor features eight rectangular windows with cambered heads, arranged as pairs in the three central bays and as single windows in the outer bays. The roof has three cowls, and at the north end of the ridge, there is a timber louvred lantern topped with a pyramidal roof and a weathervane. The three kilns at the southern end have steeply pitched pyramidal roofs, each topped with louvred timber lanterns. Inside, the malting floor appears to survive at the northern end, while the rest of the interior has only been partially inspected but is likely to be of interest.
