GV II

Hop kilns and malthouse. Mid-C18 and mid- to late C19. Brick with partly hipped two-span slate roofs. Main part composed of two parallel ranges of roughly five bays aligned north/south. Three square adjoining kilns at south end of west range with additional parallel range at rear. Two levels. Main west elevation: main part has a square window and a central blocked arch- way with a cambered head on the ground floor. On the upper floor are eight rectangular windows with cambered heads (pairs of windows in three central bays and single windows in outer bays). There are three cowls on the roof and at the north end of the ridge is a timber louvred lantern with a pyra- midal roof and weathervane. The three kilns at the south end have steeply pitched pyramidal roofs surmounted by louvred timber lanterns. Interior: malting floor appears to survive at the northern end. Otherwise, interior only partially inspected but likely to be of interest.
