Description
Kyrewood Mill is a corn mill located on Kyre Brook, dating from the mid-18th century and altered in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with brick dressings and alterations, topped with a plain tiled roof. It has a rectangular two-bay plan that is aligned east to west and consists of two storeys plus an attic.
The main elevation on the west end features a ground floor window and a first floor window, both with cambered heads, an attic window with a four-centred arched head, and a central doorway that also has a cambered head. An undershot wheel is situated on the south side of the mill. The main entrance is located in the east gable end, which has a datestone above inscribed with "18??," indicating the date of the 19th-century restoration and repairs. Inside, all machinery remains intact, including the gearing, bolter, and a pair of grindstones.
