Description
17 Market Street is a house and shop that dates from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the mid 19th century and mid 20th century. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick, featuring some slate hanging at the right gable end and a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has a band at the second floor level. The façade consists of three bays. The ground floor window and first floor windows have cambered heads and are all replacement cross-casements. The second floor has three two-light casements. The shop front, which occupies the central and left bay of the ground floor, is from the mid 19th century and is simply detailed, with slender plain pilasters flanking a ten-pane window and an eight-pane large sash window, along with a glazed 20th-century door.
