Description
66 High Street is a house and shop with origins dating back to the 18th century, although it features a front that was added in the mid-19th century. The front is made of Isle of Wight stone and is stuccoed, topped with a slate roof. The building has two storeys and three windows. On the first floor, there are two 12-pane sash windows set in stuccoed architraves, along with a modern three-light bay window. The ground floor showcases a mid-19th century shopfront, which includes a central doorcase flanked by pilasters and two four-pane shopfronts, also with pilasters. The left side has a doorcase with a rectangular fanlight, while the right side features a cambered arch with a panelled door. At the rear, there is an 18th-century brick wall that includes some vitrified bricks. Inside, the building contains an 18th-century chamfered beam and a staircase with column balusters and a newel post.
