Description

This is a former house and shop, dating from the early 19th century, with alterations made around 1900 and in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick, with a shallow-pitched slate roof and brick ridge and side stacks. It is three storeys high, with a dentilled eaves cornice. The facade is divided into three bays, and the windows have curved heads. The ground floor features a twelve-pane sash window, a three-light 20th-century casement, and a two-light casement. The first floor has three twelve-pane sash windows, and the second floor has three six-pane sashes, with a small four-pane sash also present. A central entrance is formed by an early 19th-century shop front, featuring multi-paned bow windows and slender, fluted pilasters flanking a flush-panelled double doorway. A 20th-century glazed door is set at the right end of the facade. A single-storey wing on the left side has a plain sash window and a ledged and battened door with a transom light inscribed with the words "SMOKE ROOM." This building is noted for its group value.
