Description
This is a house located at 1 Church Street, dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and further changes in the late 20th century. The building features a combination of timber framing with painted brick infill, as well as brickwork, and is stuccoed at the south end. It has roofs covered with concrete tiles and slate, along with brick ridge stacks. The house is two storeys high and has a dentilled eaves cornice, comprising three bays.
The windows have gauged flat heads and are all 4-pane sashes, except for the window in the right bay of the ground floor, which has been replaced by a flat-roofed canted bay window. The central main entrance is adorned with an entablature and flanked by narrow fluted pilasters, leading to a glazed 20th-century door. There is an additional entrance at the northern end, featuring a cambered head and a ledged and battened door. The south gable end displays exposed timber framing, with one row of panels at the eaves level, short straight upper corner braces, and a collar and tie-beam truss with struts above. At the rear right, there is a large two-storey wing.
