Description
No 4 Market Square is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, which was refronted in the early 19th century. It is constructed of handmade brick, with the front stuccoed, and features a slate roof with gable-end parapets that have kneelers and a brick stack at the north end of the ridge. The building has two storeys and an attic with dormers, a chamfered plinth, and a dentilled cornice at the eaves. It is arranged in three bays, with sixteen-pane sash windows on the ground floor and twelve-pane sash windows on the first floor. Additionally, there are three flat-roofed dormers that contain 2-light casements. The central entrance features an open pediment supported by engaged Doric columns, leading to a door with six flush panels. At the south gable end, there is a two-course brick band at the attic storey level.
