Description
Nos 18 and 19 Market Square are a row of two shops built in the early 19th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The buildings are constructed of painted brick and feature a slate roof with painted brick ridge stacks. They stand two storeys tall and have a dentilled eaves cornice. The façade consists of four bays, with four first-floor 12-pane sash windows.
No 18 has a late 19th-century shop front that includes 20th-century glazing and a glazed 20th-century door. In contrast, No 19 retains its original shop front, which features an 8-pane and a 14-pane window flanked by fluted pilasters with entablatures. This is set on either side of a doorway that has an entablature with a dentilled cornice, flanking panelled pilasters, and a half-glazed 20th-century door. Between the two shop fronts, there is an inserted double doorway.
