Description

Prospect Cottage is a house with a shop, dating from the early to mid 18th century, with extensions from the 19th century and alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of stuccoed brick and has a tiled roof. The building was originally symmetrical with three bays, but one bay was added to the right. It stands two storeys tall with a central entrance featuring a flat hood. On either side of the entrance are 20th-century casement windows with slightly cambered heads. The first floor has a central blind window that displays a 1769 Phoenix firemark, flanked by casement windows. The ground floor of the 19th-century bay to the right has a 20th-century shop front that replaced a carriageway. The building has a plinth and dentilled brick eaves, with stacks at the original gable ends. There is a lean-to kitchen at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
