Description
59 High Street is a house and shop dating from the early to mid-18th century, with significant alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of brick with a rendered lined stucco finish and features a plain tile roof with brick dogtooth eaves and a large brick chimney stack on the left side.
The exterior has two storeys and consists of one wide bay with a gabled wing at the rear. On the first floor, there is a canted bay window topped with a scalloped leaded hood and featuring 20th-century plate glazing. The ground floor has a shallow canted bay window at the centre, also with 20th-century plate glazing, a shallow sill, and a plain leaded hood that extends over a 20th-century door to the right. To the left, there is a further moulded doorcase with a plank door that provides access to the rear of the building. The interior has not been inspected.
