Description
61 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates from the 18th century, likely from the mid-1700s, and has undergone some alterations over time. The building is constructed of brick with a stucco finish and features a plain tile roof with painted brick dogtooth eaves. There are brick stacks at both ends, with the right stack shared and an additional one at the rear wing.
The exterior has two storeys and a three-window range, along with a gabled rear wing. On the first floor, there are two boxed 6/6 sash windows on either side of a blocked central window, all with painted reveals. The ground floor features canted bay windows on the outer bays; the left bay has horned sashes arranged as 1/1:2/2:1/1 and a leaded modillion cornice, while the right bay has 4/4:6/6:4/4 sashes, both with deep sills. The central entrance has a doorcase with a leaded wooden hood supported by iron brackets and a part-glazed six-panel door. The building also has painted plinth courses. The interior has not been inspected.
