Description
No. 68 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and has undergone some later alterations. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with the ground floor painted. It features a plain tile roof with brick dogtooth eaves and has no visible chimney.
The exterior consists of two storeys and one wide bay. On the first floor, there is a three-light casement window with panes arranged in a 3:3:3 pattern, set under a brick segmental arch. The ground floor has a fascia with a leaded cornice. To the right, there is a plate-glazed bay window with panes arranged in a 2:6:2 pattern, featuring deep triangular glazing bars and a moulded sill. To the left, there is a 20th-century glazed door with a narrow overlight. The brickwork shows signs of alterations. The interior has not been inspected.
