Description
No. 70 High Street is a house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the late 18th century and incorporates some earlier work, likely from the 17th century, along with later alterations. The building is constructed of painted brick in Flemish bond, with some internal timber-framing. It features a renewed tile roof with brick dentilled eaves and a brick end stack on the right side.
The exterior has two storeys and consists of one wide bay. On the first floor, there is a horned 6/6 sash window set under a wooden lintel. The ground floor has a larger 6/6 boxed sash window beneath a segmental brick arch. To the left, there is a doorway with a segmental head and a renewed 6-panel door, and the building has a plinth made of a single brick course.
Inside, there is a square-panel timber-framed party wall on the left, along with spine beams and an open fireplace at the rear.
