Description
No. 76 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates from the early 19th century but incorporates some work from the 17th century and has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring painted plinth courses. It has a tile roof behind a high brick parapet with painted stone coping, and there are no visible stacks.
The exterior consists of two storeys and has a two-window range of 2/2 sash windows, which are adorned with painted channelled voussoirs, keystones, and sills. On the ground floor, there is a leaded bracketed cornice. To the left, there is a shallow canted five-light bay window with plate glazing, deep triangular mullions, and a cornice. To the right, the entrance features an architrave, an overlight, and a renewed glazed door, along with a chamfered painted brick plinth.
Inside, the building has a heavy-scantling spine beam and exposed joists.
