Description
Ford Cottage is a small house that was formerly two houses, dating from the 17th century and later. It is constructed with a timber frame, featuring some painted brick and lath and plaster infill, and has a 20th-century asbestos roof along with a tiled outshut at the rear. The building consists of two and three bays, with one central stack and a rebuilt external stack on the left gable. There are two entrances that are roughly central to each house. The cottage is a single storey with an attic, which includes two dormers and four windows on the ground floor. To the left of the second entrance, there are two small curved brick buttresses. The framing consists of two and three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with a large brace in the central bay from the sill to the central post, and V-struts in the right end gable. Inside, the right-hand house retains some unaltered late Victorian features, including a range.
