Description
Syntley Farmhouse is a farmhouse that features a late 18th-century refronting of a 17th-century building. The facade is made of red brick, while the rear wing and part of the side elevations of the main house are constructed from dressed, coursed red sandstone. The roof is tiled and the building has a modified L-shaped plan. It stands two storeys high and has a dentilled eaves cornice with three bays that include aluminium glazing bar windows and timber lintels on the first floor. The central doorway is recessed and has panelled reveals, with a wooden doorcase that features an open pediment supported by simple Tuscan pilasters. Above the door is a traceried over-light and the door itself is a six-panelled design. To the left of the main structure is a lean-to, and there is a lower two-storey wing set back behind it. The south elevation of the rear wing shows the trace of a stone mullioned window and a hood mould, along with stone steps leading down to a basement below the rear wing.
