Description
Astley Heights is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century, also known as Knapp House on the Ordnance Survey map. It is constructed of red brick and features a tiled roof with an L-shaped plan. The building stands three storeys tall and has a dentilled eaves cornice. The wide front faces the road and is supported by a high retaining wall. The façade consists of three bays, with a blind central bay. The ground and first floors have flush framed 16-pane sash windows with cambered arches, while the second floor has reduced 8-pane sashes. There is a range of similar windows on the right gable end, and the central entrance is adorned with a wooden bracketed open pediment. A plain doorway is located in the retaining wall below the house, and there is a casement window at the rear. The left return overlooks a school and has no windows.
