Description

Oakhampton is a farmhouse built in the early 19th century, which was refaced and enlarged in the late 19th century. It is constructed of stuccoed brick with a moulded plinth and quoins, featuring stone dressings and slate roofs, with part of the roof hipped on the east wing and central range. The central range is two rooms deep, with flanking wings that project towards the garden front. The building has two storeys throughout.

On the garden elevation (south), the later gabled west wing, which has an implied pediment, projects slightly further than the east wing. The cornice is bracketed at intervals above the windows, and there are quoin bands. The window arrangement is 2:3:2, featuring glazing bar sashes with pronounced architraves, bracketed cornices, and sills. The ground floor sashes extend to ground level. The return of the west wing has a central entrance flanked by two-storey canted bays.

The entrance elevation has been altered and features a centre forward projecting porch with a gabled roof. The west wing to the right has a pediment and decorative stuccowork in the tympanum. The service gable to the left of the porch was remodelled around 1960 following the demolition of the service wing, and the rear north service wing and east conservatory were also demolished around the same time.

Inside, the farmhouse has late 19th-century stuccoed ceilings and contemporary fireplaces.
