Description
Myrtle Cottage is a small house dating from the early 17th century, with an extension from the late 18th to early 19th century and some 20th-century alterations. The building is timber-framed with a brick end gable, partially bricked at the sill level, and has brick and lath and plaster infill, topped with a slate roof. It consists of two bays, with a later third bay and a brick extension added to the left. The former end stack is now enclosed, with the entrance located to the left of the stack.
The front elevation features one storey and an attic, with the framing comprising three panels high and short braces to the posts in the top panel. The lower left bay has altered framing. The cottage has renewed 20th-century fenestration, with three windows on the ground floor and two dormers above. There is a 20th-century door, and a central stack with oven brickwork projecting to the right of the door. The framing at the rear is largely complete. Inside, there is a large inglenook fireplace that includes a bread oven.
