Description
Lovely Cottage is a cottage dating from around 1600, with alterations from the 19th century and additions from the 20th century. It has a timber-framed structure with painted brick infill and refacing, a thatched roof, and external gable end brick chimneys, one of which includes a bread oven and paired diagonal shafts. The cottage features two framed bays and is a single storey with an attic that has dormers. The square panels consist of three from the sill to the wall-plate, and the left gable end exposes a queen strut truss.
The front elevation includes three ground floor casements with cambered heads, two eyebrow dormers cut into the thatch with casements, and a thatched porch supported by timber uprights on the left bay, which has a planked door. Inside, there is an intermediate queen strut truss and single trenched purlins, while the main beams are stop-chamfered. The cottage has 19th-century single storey extensions that enclose the stacks at both gable ends, as well as a large 20th-century rear extension.
