Description
Boatley Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has undergone alterations and additions in the 19th century. It features a timber-framed structure with painted brick infill, along with painted brick refacing and replacement walling. The roof is felted, and there is an external brick stack at the right gable end with offsets. The cottage consists of two framed bays and is a single storey with an attic that includes a dormer. The large square panels extend three from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces in the top corners. The queen strut truss is exposed in the right gable end. The elevation facing the road has a single ground floor casement window. The main entrance and an eyebrow dormer are located at the eaves level on the rear side. The interior has not been inspected. There is also a 19th-century outshut on the rear side of the stack.
