Description
Nos. 18, 18A, and 18B on Victoria Street is a shop building dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of brick and features a parapeted roof. The building stands three storeys high and has a five-window range. The top cornice and coped parapet are ramped between piers, with end pilasters. The ground floor has 20th-century shop fronts. The windows are adorned with rubbed brick flat arches and keystones, featuring two 19th-century horned sashes and two modern sashes on the first floor, while the second floor has six-pane sashes. The central bay includes a tripartite window with angle pilasters, antae, an entablature, and a central pediment on the first floor, along with a Diocletian window that has an archivolt, keystone, and tripartite sash on the second floor. The first bay originally lost its first and second floors but was reconstructed in 1990. The interior was also reconstructed in the 20th century and does not contain any notable features. Historically, the ground floor had round-headed windows and a central entrance with a pediment, as shown in a late 19th-century photograph.
